Martha began her early training at the age of 8 in Charlottetown, PEI. She began her professional dance training at Ryerson, graduating from the dance program in 1976. After Ryerson she continued her training at the Banff School of Fine Arts and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Professional division. In 1977 Ms. Nicholson began teaching at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and remained with the organization until moving to Charlottetown in 1993 when she established the Island Dance Academy. She holds her Advanced 2 RAD executant certificate, ISTD Advanced Modern and National certificates, as well as the Advanced Teachers Certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance. Her students have gone on to train and perform with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, Ryerson and Confederation Centre’s Young Company. In 1998 she was appointed to the Board of Tutors of the RAD. Ms. Nicholson is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
Shannon White
Shannon is a graduate of the Island Dance Academy. She has performed as a dancer in "Anne of Green Gables", "Gabrielle and Evangeline" and tourism PEI trade shows.
Mrs. White was on staff at the Island Dance Academy from 1995-1998, teaching Junior and Senior levels. She holds her Advanced 1 certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance and is currently enrolled on the RAD's CBTS teaching program.
